What is the BCAC?
The Business Coalition Against Corruption (BCAC), established in February 2011, is a joint initiative of the Business Council for Africa (BCA) Cameroon and the CONAC, GICAM, ECAM, TRANSPARENCY INTERNATIONAL. The aim of this public private partnership to support the Cameroonian Government in improving business climate and achieving its ambition to be an emerging economy by 2035.
How is it governed?
The Steering Committee is chaired by the Business Council for Africa (BCA) Cameroon and includes: British High Commission in Cameroon; National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC); Transparency International Cameroon; Guinness Cameroon; Dana Petroleum Cameroon.
The Steering Committee defines the strategy, sets programs, monitors the budget and guides the Project Manager.
What are the BCAC’s core activities?
The BCAC offers free training and advice on “why and how to create a culture of integrity whithin a compagny”, and provides a platform for sharing best practices.

What have we achieved?
Over 500 managers trained from 250 companiesg; 65 active members; 20 companies implementing bespoke coaching programs.
Objective for 2016
– Roll out, in partnership with CONAC (National Anti-Corruption Commission), a whistleblowing process
– Cascade for training, sharing best practice, mentoring, coaching and support small and medium size companies on ethics, integrity, governance and compliance through training, sharing best practices, mentoring, coaching and by providing practical advice on how to combat fraud.
– Raise awareness of corruption in schools; advocate for the establishment of civic education as a compulsory subject with a final examination at the primary school level, and encourage to debates on ethics and governance in business at the high school, facilitated by CEOs.
Currently we have a critical mass of major companies committed to BCAC. We now plan to reach out to smaller companies who are most at risk.
